I'm not allergic to grass but I definitely get itchy marks like that when my skin touches it. It's only the thicker, tougher kinds of grass. I think it's kind of sharp when it gets mowed. It could be an allergy, but the marks look more like the grass scratched him a little.

My daughter is allergic to grass and it looks like someone scratched her everywhere the grass touched her and actually scabbed in a few spots! That just looks like a sensitivity, thankfully!

Sometimes I get a little itchy and red after sitting in grass but I don’t have an allergy to it. It mostly happens when I’m hot and sweating. Could have happened to your little as well. 
Definitely not an angry red rash though.
