Dry skin down there?! Help!!

For the past few days I’ve had like dry/red/itchy skin down there....the only explanation I could think of was that a few nights ago I left a liner on for over 24 hours, so I was thinking it was just some irritation from the liner being on for so long? I looked down there a little while ago, and I was able to peel off small skin flakes on and around my vagina....is this bad? Or could it just be possible to have dry skin down there? I’ve never had this happen, help!
