How long do your new born babies breastfeed for??

New mom to breastfeeding and im just not sure if this is normal or not.. my twins will feed for more than 45 minutes, i have to stop them because my nipples start to feel like they are falling off. Thanks a ton

The normal nursing session is between 15 and 60 minutes, my baby also nursed for more than 45 minutes and it drove me crazy 😅 She gained weight and everything else was perfect, I just didn't know they could nurse for so long 😋

My baby ALWAYS nursed for an hour during the first few months. She was pretty much latched 24/7. It was exhausting but I survived and she’s still breastfeeding at 11 months. Things I wish I’d done during that time: hide snacks and water everywhere! Buy a few boxes of protein bars and water bottles and stuff those things in the couch cushions, under your pillows, anywhere you could get stuck nursing. Also, always plug your phone in next to you before you get trapped 😹

Also, make sure they’re not just using you as a pacifier. My first daughter and my one week old both would finish eating but continue to suck to pacify them. Especially if she falls asleep. Mine only nurses for 10-15 mins before I unlatch her. If she’s still hungry she lets me know right away 😜

They are really I efficient this young: they are still learning how to eat. As they get older they get more efficient and don't have to eat for as long. Up to an hour is normal

From birth to about 5 weeks old, my daughter nurses from 30-40 minutes. It has slowly decreased as she’s gotten bigger and more efficient. Now at 10 weeks old, she is usually done in about 15-20 minutes. She does occasionally have a really long session first thing in the morning as she sleeps up to 6 hours overnight.

My son nursed for an hour total EVERY session when he was a newborn. 30 mins on each side. It was exhausting and hurt so bad, I dreaded breastfeeding. Now he’s 10 months, still breastfed, and will finish both sides in about 15-20 mins.
