He wasn't really acting any way but normal, but then we are a little bit older and don't really do the "he asked me out/to be his girlfriend" thing. We had discussed our relationship, our feelings, and where we wanted things to go leading up to that point. Eventually it became clear what we wanted was exclusivity.  So we made the decision together to tie up any other loose ends and become exclusive.
That was over 7 years ago. We will be married next year.
