Help - not sure if my water might’ve broken

Cassie

***update***

I went to L&D. Their test says it’s not my water... damn.

But I am having contractions 10 min apart

I will say this is the first time I’ve ever been to L&D and actually had a good experience. Both the nurse and the dr were very nice and on top of their game and didn’t make me feel stupid or like it was a waste of time. They checked Olivia’s fluid level and said it is good, so that was reassuring. ♥️ her heartbeat and activity level were also good the dr said based on my contractions I may be back here later today and if not they’ll see me Wednesday! 😊 waiting to be discharged so I can go get some biscuits n gravy. Yum!

I’m sorry this is long, but I need the help. Ok, so I’m not a FTM, not even a STM...this is my 5th (and final) baby...BUT, with all of my other children my water never broke on its own, the dr always had to break it during labor...and this is the only time I’ve ever been pregnant past 36w.

A bit of history - I’m currently 37w6d, very high risk, set to be induced Wednesday morning. Baby girl dropped over a month ago and is now at a +1 station, and I have been dilated to 2cm for a several weeks.

All of my other children were premies, born between 34-36 weeks. This pregnancy, I was on the Makena shot until 4 weeks ago, to prevent preterm labor. I have been having weekly biophysical profile scans for the last 6 weeks. She is measuring small bc the placenta and umbilical cord flow was not the best, and her amniotic fluid levels have been at the very low end of normal.

Fast forward to last night around midnight, just over 24 hours ago... I have had a terrible sinus infection this week which has really had me laid up, and does not seem to be improving despite being on antibiotics. Last night I had a sneeze attack to where I sneezed about 10x. Now, I know it’s normal to pee when you sneeze when you’re this far along, but I had literally just peed about 5 minutes prior to this happening.

So one of my sneezes sent a gush of fluid running down my leg. It appeared to be clear. I took off running to the bathroom to clean up, after I wiped off my leg, I sat on the toilet. I then proceeded to sneeze a few more times which were accompanied by two more decent size gushes of fluid (A LOT more than what you would expect there to be for having just peed, if it was pee). So, in total 3 “large” gushes initially. And since it occurred on the toilet I couldn’t really observe it.

About 15 minutes later, I lost a big chunk of my plug and then about 5 min after that I started having contractions that were 5-6 min apart, but not painful and lasted for a few hours. So I went to bed and by the time I woke up they had stopped.

Now, during the day today and overnight last night, I keep getting these “huge” (big to me) wet spots on my panties that are 1/2 dollar coin size or larger (about 2” in diameter) and are clear in color. There has not been a constant trickle, but the consistency is very watery and I don’t usually have much discharge, especially that much, and when I do it tends to be thicker. I know it’s not pee bc my pee was yellow today. This has happened 5x in the last 24 hours. But I have no idea if it’s maybe amniotic fluid or if I’m suddenly just having a lot of watery discharge (new to me).

Since I have a sinus infection, I can’t smell anything, so I asked my poor husband to smell it (the spot on my panties) and he said it does not smell like pee, but that was as much as he could identify bc his nose is also fairly stuffy right now too.

What would you ladies do? Have any of you experienced this before? I’m no stranger to L&D, but I really hate going there, especially if it can be avoided. I know when my water was broken during previous births it was like Niagara Falls, but this is the only baby I’ve ever had that had relatively low fluid. Any input is appreciated.
