Obvyn or midwife?

Hey! First baby, and my pcp doesn’t do babies. She is the only provider I see and know, so trying to get some info about the pros and cons of obgyns and midwifes. 
Such a big choice I just wasn’t the right person with us for this journey.

I have an OB because I’m high risk and this specific OB knows my history of losses. I’d also prefer to deliver in a hospital in case something happens especially since I’m high risk. But it’s really up to you.

I chose a midwife and she misdiagnosed me with s miscarriage. Told me to get a d&c. I went to the Er and got an ultrasound and baby was fine. So I went to an OB afterwards he told me my baby was fine and it’s not about hcg numbers after they hit 20k and basically had to apologize for her terrible mistake. I missed two days of work and was so stressed out it was awful

OB. I had lots of complications with my son, the both of us almost died. Obviously I didn’t know that was going to happen when I chose an OB, but I’m sure as hell glad I did.

I am in favor of midwives, but it's a very personal decision. With a midwife you will get less interventions, and if you are high risk you will get referred out to an ob. With an ob, you will give birth in a hospital, which can make you feel safer, and will almost certainly have more interventions. 
I think the most important thing is finding someone you click with and trust. You feeling safe and like you are in the best care is the best way to make sure you have a good experience.

I went with midwives for all mine. If you need an OB you will get who is on call anyways. Your able to see a bunch of them before baby comes as well.
