Yes, I thought my period was starting a few days early. Was supposed to start on a Thursday and on a Monday I had some bleeding. I was sure my period was starting. But after 2 days of only minimal blood, I just KNEW it wasn’t my period. That’s Saturday I found out I was pregnant :) I wore tampons and everything because each morning I woke up, I’d wipe out blood. Like normal looking, beginning of period blood.

My most recent: sorry long but interesting.  
I am currently Breastfeeding and I had a period on Aug 5th. It was normal. I assumed I ovulated on cd 17 which was Aug 22 for me. I did not use OPKs bc I have been ovulating in cd17 for the past 5-6 years like clock work regardless of breastfeeding or not. Hubby and I did the deed and I was in my TWW. 
My next period was due Sept 6th and I took a HPT just Incase and it was negative so I figured my period was going to start. By lunch I was spotting. By dinner I had to put a tampon in. By morning I was bleeding so bad that as I removed my tampon I was leaking a steady stream of blood into the toilet. I bleed heavy the rest of the day using an ultra tampon and needing to change it every 3-4 hours. 
By day 3 it was lighter. By day 4 I was spotting brown. Day 5 was a panty liner kind of day. All normal to me. 
On CD7 I took an OPK to get a baseline for this month cause hubby and I are trying to gender sway so I wanted to make sure I was still ovulating on cd17. Well the test came up VERY positive. Like... how? No way I was ovulating  that early; then I remembered a positive ovulation test can signal a pregnancy. So I ran and took a HPT:

Like.... wtf. How? I literally just bled. I called my Ob. I got my first positive test on Sept 11, saw my OB for blood work and ultrasound on Sept 13th. 
Sept 13 HCG was 150, progesterone was 2.5.... very very very low. And ultrasound showed nothing in uterus. So either miscarriage, too soon to see anything or ectopic pregnancy. He assumed it was a miscarriage and that my repeat labs that we were going to draw on Saturday would show my HCG had dropped. 
Sept 15th my HCG actually tripled. 458 but progesterone was still low so we started vaginal progesterone and would do a repeat ultrasound on Friday Sept 21.  Until my appointment I kept testing.

Sept 21: ultrasound showed nothing in uterus. I had no bleeding, no pain, I felt fine. I had normal pregnancy symptoms but could have just been the progesterone supplements. So he sent me for repeat lab work to see if my HCG was still rising or if it had dropped. If it was still rising then that meant I had an ectopic pregnancy and was going to be rushed into surgery later that day to end the pregnancy. If my HCG dropped then we knew it was a miscarriage. 
At 1:12 pm my OB called. Good news and bad news. Bad news HCG dropped down to 138 good news wasn’t ectopic. I was having a miscarriage. 
OB says I won’t bleed like a miscarriage and will appear normal to me. I am doing repeat labs next Friday to make sure my HCG goes back down to 0 then it’s back to the drawing board for me. 
It is not uncommon for a women to have what appears to be a normal period and still be pregnant. In my case I ovulated insanely late;  I ovulated 5 days late and the “period” I had was a heavy implantation bleed. Why it all appeared normal to me. 
From here on out I will take a pregnancy test after each period regardless of how “normal” it appeared. 
FYI: I have 3 kids. 3yo, 2yo and a 6 month old and I never bleed, spotted or anything with those pregnancies. Even pregnancy #2 and #3 were vanishing twin pregnancies and I still never bleed with those. So this one really threw me for a loop.

You can’t have an actual period when pregnant. The definition of a period is the expulsion of the lining of your uterus, doing so would also get rid of a pregnancy and be considered a miscarriage.
You can however have bleeding during pregnancy which can be mistaken for a period, or some light spotting.
