Metronidazole during pregnancy???

So I’ve been diagnosed with BV at about 8 weeks pregnant. I’m 16 weeks and started taking 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. Has anyone else taken this? Is it safe?? Will it harm my baby?

untreated BV increases pregnancy risks including preterm birth so it should definitely be treated! the oral metronidazole is fine but if you have concerns you can ask for Metrogel which is a vaginal suppository. Congrats on the pregnancy!

I suggest talking with your doctor if you have concerns. Seems like for the most part it’s safe and probably better to take the drug then suffer with BV but definitely talk to your doctor.
