I feel really badly about this. My dad has been dating his current girlfriend for just over a year. She’s very sweet and this year for my birthday they went halfsies on a gift for me, which I of course don’t mind. So she hyped it up a lot and tomorrow is my birthday so my dad gave me this gift one day early in case I wanted to wear it tomorrow. So I open it, and it’s a set of REAL pearls. A necklace, bracelet, and earrings. All real. He said it was about $200 plus then they paid for a hotel room for me this next weekend for me and some girlfriends.

I just.. it’s not that I don’t appreciate the thoughtful gesture but.. I don’t feel like it’s something I’ll wear and I know she was excited about it and it was expensive.. it’s just not my style. I don’t know what to do because I don’t want to seem ungrateful and I also don’t want her to notice that I don’t wear them..

I told her thank you of course but I don’t know what else to do with them..
