Would you...?
The last post got me curious. So let's say you had a child who had gone deaf or hard of hearing within their first year of life. Would you choose to get treatment or leave their hearing alone?
I was faced with decision when my son was five or six months old I think. His hearing test came back and showed he was hard of hearing. Later we found out he had fluid in his ears. It will be corrected by tubes in October since there's an added risk for infection and the way his ears are angled need to corrected to avoid fluid buildup again and again. At the time we found out he was hard of hearing, there was a potential for it to become permanent and they told me I may need to make a decision on whether or not we would want to give him a cochlear implant. Honestly, I don't think I would've for a multitude of reasons.
