What do y’all think about this?

So at the University I go to this apparently happened...a student hung a noose and bike in a tree. Many people felt it was racist and became very offended and upset by this. The student who was responsible came forward and was suspended and banned from campus. I was reading the comments and he commented saying that he has Aspergers, meaning that he didn’t know that this “joke” would be taken the way it was. He thought it would be funny but obviously no one else did. I myself am black but I don’t take offense to things like this nor do I think they are okay. I feel like everyone should feel safe and welcomed and I feel like the actions of this student, made it uncomfortable for all people more specifically people of color. I get that this guy has a form of autism but I don’t think this means he should be able to get off easy and I don’t think this means that he shouldn’t be held accountable. I feel like the hearing should go the same way it would if he wasn’t on the spectrum. I also read other comments from other people and I’m assuming that this guy has made racist comments before and has made other people feel uncomfortable. What do y’all think? How do you feel about this and how do you think the school should handle this? Also what do you make of him being autistic?
