Attn snow dwellers!!!:Winter clothing?????

So this probably sounds so lame haha BUT I recently moved from the beach to the mountains. I absolutely love it up here its amazing. However I just realized temperatures will start dropping in 2 weeks and we will be getting snow soon after that, and I have exactly zero clothing suitable for that, I basically have 75 degree year round beach clothes! When i was a kid I stayed in New Hampshire for a month every winter but I just wore my cousins hand-me-downs so I dont remember what I wore it was so long ago! 
So for anyone who lives in snow, what are the must haves and what can I go without?? I dont have a lot of money and i only want to buy the bare minimum but good quality that will last.
Also, if you have any tips for my baby girl too they are welcome!

Waterproof insulated boots are a MUST!!! Also a waterproof coat, hats, eat muffs, wool gloves and waterproof ones maybe? I live in Illinois! Not excited for the snow 😆 it’s so difficult getting things done out of the house. I am also from a beachy part! 🇵🇷🏝

Also, layer up.  Singlets, thick socks. My sister lived in Norway for a year and said will is best coz it doesn't get so cold if it gets wet.

Bunting for your car seat!! We had an infant car seat, so we always dressed out little girl in a warm onesie and hat, then put the in the car seat with extra blankets and the bunting. You can do all this on the house so baby stays warm! When going outside with her, I would wear her in our Ergo, then just zipper up my jacket around the both of us. 
She was born in late November in Chicago, so her first few months were cold!!!

Don’t overthink it-just Jeans, leggings, sweaters & hoodies. Get a big winter coat, and a fleece jacket for the lighter days. Long socks, a couple pairs of boots (fashion boots, muck boots, snow boots). Winter hat, gloves, scarfs.

My go-to winter outfits: jeans or leggings, usually sweaters or hoodies. You can get snow-type boots but unless you are going or be playing outside with a little one or you are the one shoveling snow, you don’t really need them. This was a couple years ago, but a typical outfit (jeans tank top and fleece jacket) yes I would also wear a winter coat over this when going outside.

A good quality jacket that at least covers your butt (don't want it riding up when you sit down in a car). Hat, mittens, scarves, sweaters, flannel shirts, thermal long sleeves, hoodies, waterproof boots. I would also suggest getting some snow pants. For your little girl, fleece sleepers, hat, mittens, a snowsuit (can't be worn in the car seat though). I live in Minnesota and those are my basics that I wear.

Layers!  I will also suggest wool- do check the fabric labels though because it needs to have at least 60% wool.  Good warm waterproof boots are crucial.  Obviously a nice jacket as well.

Try hitting up a goodwil or Salvation Army store for your self. Get layering pieces. I live in upstate NY and that’s how I live from mid October to mid March. Often 5-6 layers lol. It’s kinda a joke between me and SO he guesses how many I’m going to peel off each night.
