Are teeth x-rays safe if pregnant?

I'm a dental nurse.
As people said already: no x-rays for general check ups. In emergency cases they will do some, but if you're in first trimester they'll try to overcome time somehow since xrays in early pregnancy can (not a given but there is a chance) harm the embryo. 
Yet though: the amount of radiation which is used to make a small xray of 2-3 teeth with a modern device is basically the same amount of radiation our bodies have to endure everyday just by walking on earth.

It’s a Yes and a No. i just had an emergency root canal and I’m 12 weeks pregnant. Some dentists have the ability to do a digital cray instead of your normal X-ray. The digital are safer for women who are pregnant. The way they explained it to me was my tooth was infected and it could have potentially caused harm to my child if I let it go and it went into my blood stream. So they went ahead with the digital.

They are not recommended in the first trimester but if you have any reason for concerns or if it has been several years since you had them, it is encouraged to get them in your second or third tri. You want to rule out any infection or cavities as this could potentially be problematic during your pregnancy. Dental work is recommended to be done in the second tri unless an emergency requires it to be done in the first or third. If you are regular with your check ups and not at a high risk for cavities, you would be okay to skip while pregnant and pick up after the baby.
