Wait or pull the trigger on Clomid?

Hello all! I am 36 years old and my hubby and I have been TTC for 8 months. Recently had the first of three progesterone tests and on CD 21 it was relatively low at 4.2. Gyro says I am not ovulating and wants to start me on clomid. However, I would like to try an ovulation kit for a couple months first as the thought of the clomid makes me a little nervous. I'm really vacillating back and forth as to whether to give it 2 more months before I start with the chemicals. What do you all think?
