How long is HFMD contagious?

I have a 5 week old and I’m afraid to go to a birthday party where there are kids who had HFMD just a week ago.

My son got hfm, took him to the clinic when the rash showed up. Dr said 5 days after fever. If the kids rash/spots/blisters are not 100 percent gone I wouldn't go with a newborn. :/
