Is it really to soon

So I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and over the past few days I have spotted some bargains I have managed to get a pram n car seat that will last us a few years for £80 and a cot with a mobile and bedding for £40 and i know there is a lot more to get but my partner is the only one who works and we don't get a lot and its only 5 more pay days till baby will be here.. . Some people r saying it's to early to buy stuff but I don't think it is as I don't believe in the old wives tale of being bad luck. Have I made a bad decision?
