Ring shopping together?

Is it normal to pick out your own engagement ring before your bf proposes? I went to pick out my own ring and he bought it (waiting for it to be delivered to the store and will also be paying it off) but idk lol I’m fine with what we did but is it common to do that? Just curious.

i work at a jewelry store and this is becoming more common 😊 the men will come in with their girlfriend and they’ll choose together and then he’ll either purchase then and propose when she least expects it or will come back and buy & propose when she least expects it! i think it’s totally normal! plus itsa fun experience and the man finds out what his girlfriend truly loves. 😊

My man proposed without the ring and the next day we went shopping and he got me to choose it. He was scared I wouldn't like what he had chosen if he did it himself but I would have loved it either way

We picked my ring out together & when it came in we picked it up together. I’ve had it since and we are “engaged”. I was impatient and didn’t really care for the proposal. 😊

We both picked out my ring. He was willing to go bankrupt just to get me a big diamond but I'm not a flashy person at all plus I wear gloves all day so I just wanted a small stone. It's not my dream ring but I love it because it has a bit of both of us, I picked the diamond and he picked the band. My dream ring would actually be a purple amethyst he said he would surprise me with that one day.

I'd prefer it to be a surprise. I'm not picky so I wouldn't care what style he chooses. Other couples shop together and the proposal isn't a surprise or just doesn't happen at all. That's fine too, to each their own 🤷🏾‍♀️

I personally don’t understand this, but I also know that different things whole different value for different people. Some women need something very specific for their engagement ring. Not me. I want to be surprised by what he comes up with, see if he listened to little hints that I have dropped about what I like. If I have to pick out my own ring, I’ll never no like he would’ve picked for me. Plus you don’t get that shock value when he opens the box or pulls the ring out and you see it for the first time. It’s like picking your own birthday gifts. It’s still nice to get, but surprises are awesome
