Your thoughts on birth control arm implant?

Please only comment if you had or currently have one. What are pros and cons? Was this good for you?

Had mine for almost 3 years, love it. Never had any scares or complications. Most common side effect is irregular bleeding, about 33% of users (including me) don't experience any bleeding. I didn't gain any weight or see a change in acne. I occasionally get mood swings but nothing major. Overall, I don't really experience any negative side effects. It's been a great experience.

I got mine in May this year, the insertion isn't bad, it's just bruised for a couple of days and is a strange sensation at first. Side effects for me were mostly to do with my bleeding. I bled irregular the first 10 weeks of having it, immediately after getting it and then a straight 5 weeks. But I never get cramping or any other annoying period side effects anymore so that's a plus :) now I've had it in and it's settled I bleed pretty much regularly and have no issues with it. 
On a cautionary note, out of the 3 friends I know to have had it 2 got it removed for mental and emotional disturbances and physical issues, the third friend has had it for 6 years nearly, and never bleeds nor suffers any side effects what so ever. It really is about you as an individual but if you are seriously considering it, trying it for 3 months is ideal to get out of the "settling period".

I have literally just got mine out today, this is my second implant, I wouldn't say it's the worst contraception, I didn't have a period at all being on it, but my hormones just didn't agree with it this time. It is different for every woman. It is really 50/50 on opinions.

Everyone is different. I abosutely love this birth control! Never had a problem with abnormal bleeding or anything. I was on depo (the shot) in high school. I bled for 3 weeks straight. I legit thought I was gonna die. My OB told me since I didn't well on depo that I wouldn't do well with an IUD. Everyone is different. I'd talk to your doctor and see what they recommend!

Been on nexplanon since early July didn’t have any bleeding for the first 2 month but I’ve now been bleeding nearly a month it’s made me depressed, I’ve gained about 2 stone which I’m now trying to lose, I had horrible nightmares for about a month which I never thought you could get on the implant I’m really thinking about getting it removed and going on the iud x

Eff no. I had it in for 3 months and bled the entire time PLUS two months after because my hormones were so screwed up. Get an IUD.

Had it for about a year, didn’t have a period for about 7/12 of those months but after the 7th month I bleed 3 weeks straight for the last 5 months, it killed my sexy drive, messed with my emotions and made me depressed... by the end of the first year I had to get it removed because the mental effects it was having on me combined with the never ending bleeding made me so stressed and mentally drained that I was crying every day. I don’t recommend
