What does the start of labor feel like?

Hey all! I'm a first time mom. This past weekend my lower back started hurting and hasn't stopped. Today I feel like I'm bruised down there..

Mine felt like really strong BH like breath taking tightening of the stomach . Then hours later my water just broke while walking out the door

I’m exactly the same, I’m at 35+3 and I’ve had constant pain in my lower back and low down round the front. But I assumed it’s because baby has moved down!

My last delivery started with contractions every 15 min or so in the morning. Not super consistent but enough to notice. They eventually grew longer and stronger through out the day so I pushed myself to get ready for birth with walks, squats, and an exercise ball. The next morning at 2am my baby was born.

Mine started with a sharp ache for the 24 hours before labor. Its so niggly and you cant ease it. Then the contractions start.

It depends for my first I had a spontaneous eruption of membranes with no symptoms and then within 20 mins of my waters breaking contractions began but only 2% of woman break waters with no warning. You are most likely to feel period like cramps low in your pelvis and vagina that will get increasingly more intense and depending on your baby and placenta position lower back pain. Early labor can last days but so the cramps may be very subtle like twinges but they won’t be like braxtons which are just general tightening sensations they will be cramps.
