I'm 36 soon to be 37. I just recently told my husband & daughter that I am seriously thinking about changing my name. My husband is not happy about it, as he says he "loves"my name.  So does my mother(Love my name) . The only thing is ... I feel my mother will be hurt & extremely upset. But I'm tired of living life worried about upsetting ppl due to my personal life decisions.

25 is not too old. My hairdresser is 30 something and just recently changed her name. It can be done. Just takes everyone some getting use to

I have a relative who legally changed her middle name, and then decided to go by that new middle name instead of her first name. My family still calls her by her first name (old habits die hard) and that's what is on all of her legal identification, but informally she goes by the name that she chose.
The family was still annoyed that she changed it, but it seems to have been a relatively decent compromise.
