Newborn gagging??

My baby boy is only 11 days old and he does this gagging thing now and then where he goes bright red and starts gagging.. he's okay after I lift him up and start rubbing and patting his back... but it freaks me out

You can help him for now but I wouldn’t worry. He’ll figure it out. My son has reflux and did the same thing. He always slept flat on his back.

I know how you feel. My baby boy is 3 wks old and I've tried so many different positions to get my let down, or whatever is making him gag and cough, be nicer or softer or something.

That would happen to my little girl when her throat would get full of spit. I think initially they don’t know what to do with their saliva and it just sits there since they’re laying down. Once we’d pick her up or try to burp her she was fine.
