Is marriage a deal breaker?

Would you honestly leave the man you love & have a child with if he doesn’t want to married one day?

I wouldn’t be with someone who didn’t want to get married in the first place. That and kids was always one of my early on conversations.

Why would you leave a good man and good father to your child just because he doesn’t view one aspect of life the same. That seems ignorant.

I’d stay because I don’t need marriage contracts to prove love and commitment. Imo If being married is more important than continuing to love the person you’re with, maybe it’s not love after all. You’re allowed to decide what’s important to you though. I can only give my opinion, but you have to decide that for yourself.

Marriage isn't a big deal to me. It won't make someone a better partner or father and I'm not religious so it's whatever to me

I wouldn't be with him and have a child with him in the first place if marriage wasn't in our future. So yes, that's a deal breaker for me.

I would have had that talk with him long before having a child with him, and probably would have left him after that talk, to be honest.

Nah. My SO and i have been together 4 years and have 2 kids. It would be nice to get married but if we dont (or if he didnt) then it wouldnt even make a diffrence we are still together as if we were married its just not written on paper.

Some of us will say yes and the other half no but guess what ... don’t rely on people who don’t have to live with your choice. If being married is in your heart and you don’t have peace about just staying girlfriend/boyfriend do some serious soul searching and ask yourself do I love him enough to leave things as they are or do I want to fill the longing in my heart to be a wife. I pray you peace and clarity to make the decision that best fits YOU !

Why throw away a good relationship over a formality like marriage? You have nearly all the same rights as common laws and marriage doesn't make a relationship any better or worse.

Something to think about...my dad and his girlfriend are still not married after years. He was in a very unfortunate, freak accident and was unable to make decisions for himself for a while. (All is good now.) Because she isn’t “family” and he didn’t have a power of attorney set up, she couldn’t do anything. She couldn’t make decisions. The hospital wouldn’t allow her to have a lot of information until I called and gave them permission.
