Is Tucks Pads suppose to burn?

Am I doing something wrong? It burns like alcohol even though I have the Tucks brand, specific for hemorrhoids and highly recommended for postpartum healing. 
Thoughts? Other recommendations?

It was a kind of good sting, if you get what I mean? Like it had a slight sting, but with immediate relief from the itching, and I think because the skin was so irritated

Mine didn’t sting! But I sprayed numbing spray first so maybe I didn’t notice. I got stitches too
