Canni request my OB to check my cervix?

Question

So she doesn't do cervical checks until 38 weeks (this is also when she determines the position of the baby which also seems crazy to me). But I've been having contractions since 30 weeks and have had a few rounds of shots to stop labor. I'm almost 36 weeks (I will be on Sunday) and I have an appointment on Monday, I really want her to check me because I want to see where the baby is and where my cervical progress is because I'm sick of the contractions.

My OB typically doesn’t check until 35 weeks. But she will if it put my mind at ease. She also tested me for Fetal Fibronectin.

My dr told me at my next appointment I’d have cervix checks started at 36 weeks. And I’m actually dreading it. It’s unnecessary pain I’d rather wait to go through. And a lot of the time I’ve noticed with my past pregnancies is yes I have contractions but I did not dilate with them anyway. I’m honestly thinking of asking if I can pass on them but I know I have to get the strep test next appointment.

Im in the same boat as you. I will be 36 weeks on Tuesday. And will see my doctor that same day. I know my baby is already head down because I’m seeing a high risk doctor that does sonograms on a weekly basis. My baby’s weight is 2 weeks ahead for his age. And I have been having contractions since last week which the high risk doctor gave me some pills to stop them. My doctor starts doing cervix check saldo at 38 weeks but I was wondering same think if I could ask for one this coming app. Let us know what your doctor tells you.

I mean you can request whatever you want, doesn’t mean they’ll do it but you won’t really know unless you ask. I think they should do it since you are 36 weeks, basically full term.

At my 32 week appointment I told my ob how I’ve been feeling, cramps wise and have contractions. She decided to just check me. But cervix was still high up and completely closed and firm.
