My mom told me when I when I was around the age of 7, she even tried to have me in the delivery room when my sister was born so I'd know what it was like as a sort of birth control. I was so thankful the doctors refused. But I'm glad she was open about all that stuff because years later I ended up living with an aunt and uncle who couldn't have kids of their own. 
So when I got my first period I was surprised but knew what to do. I told my aunt I needed female things and she got all flustered because the wasn't ready for this to happen. I told her my mom had explained it all to me so I didn't need the talk. She congratulated me on becoming a woman and later bought me a book about puberty for girls; which was super informative and helpful.

I literally thought I was dying when I first saw all the blood. I had no clue what a period was. 🤦🏾‍♀️😩 
And my mum’s response was to laugh at me and tell me that I would get this once a month and that I should wear pads. I later on found out by talking to school friends that I could get pregnant if I had sex.
