Period during yeast infection

I went to the doctors Thursday morning and got diagnosed with a yeast infection. I took the one pill to cure the infection earlier today and my nurse told me to sleep with no panties on. Since I’m on my period will the pill be ineffective? & I won’t be able to tell if I still have the yeast infection considering I’m on my period.
