First ultrasound?

Quite frankly I'm kind of ticked off at my doctor because with my last pregnancy (that I lost) they refused to do an ultrasound until I was 20 weeks! But I'm being told that some people get them at 8 weeks! I asked if they could check my last pregnancy because something wasn't right and they said there would be nothing to see and that you can't hear the heartbeat or anything until 20 weeks at least. Was my nurse crazy or am I mad about nothing?

My first, they wouldn't do an ultra sound until 18 weeks. I heard her heartbeat at every appointment after my first appointment though. Which was only a few times, but still... Unfortunately she was only born 2 weeks after the ultra sound and passed away so with this one, they are doing an ultra sound at my first appointment, I'll be almost 8 weeks, and then every two weeks at least.

My first two pregnancy they only did the 20 week ultrasound. After losing our last little guy at 17 weeks. This is the first time they did one at 6 weeks now I have to wait till about 19 weeks to see baby again. :-(

That is not right. At 12 weeks they can see the baby and heartbeat. You can also be lucky enough to find a heartbeat as early 7 weeks. I would be fuming.

You are completely right being upset! I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks 1 day due to two miscarriages this year and saw the baby and heartbeat!

That's total crap! I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks due to two previous mc and saw the heartbeat and everything. The earliest my dr will do an ultrasound is 20 weeks but that's if you aren't high risk and everything seems ok, no previous mc or anything. If you had a miscarriage they should check just in case. I was considered high risk until 13 weeks just because of my history. They should at least check for a heartbeat on a Doppler for you.

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks and had one every week after that until I was about 20 weeks because I had miss carried and was worried for a while that everything was okay. Yes I would be upset if I had to wait until 20 weeks.
