When to stop breastfeeding?

I've talked about wanting to breastfeed my baby until he's 2. My hubby and mom think I'm crazy, that's too old, and it's weird. 
Are they being judgmental/uninformed a-holes or are they right?? Is 2 too old??

I plan on breastfeeding my daughter as long as I am able to and she wants to. I told my husband that and he had the same response as yours. I told him that when he grows boobs that lactate, he can decide what to do with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

No 2 is not too old!! The World Health Organization recommendation is until at least 2 or beyond! We nursed for 21 months before she self weaned / I dried up due to a new pregnancy. I plan on letting all future babes self wean as well. Don’t let ignorant people dampen your nursing journey.

The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding until at least age 2! Tell them to get informed :) It's totally up to you if you want to go that long (or longer), but it's not at all "weird" & does have benefits for the baby. I'm 19mo in & still breastfeeding, but I've always just taken it day by day-- I figure I'll know when it's right for us to wean.

I really feel like this is different for everyone and there’s no right or wrong answer to it, it’s just a matter of personal preference. For me I am done at 1, to me it would just be weird to go any longer than that and i am ready to have my body back to myself. I also have 3 kids so even though breastfeeding is convenient it’s also difficult trying to do stuff or help my other children at times when I have a baby attached to my boob constantly.

Thank you all for your responses!! I should've thought to look it up and hit them with some knowledge but I find the judgement so annoying I wasn't thinking about much else 😂 
I'm glad to hear I wasn't being crazy! Being a mom, especially for the first time, can cause you so much self doubt. 
We're 6 months in and going strong, hopefully I'll be able to just let him decide when he's done. Our babes know best 💞💞💞💞

I thought I would stop at one year, but it was so easy and faster than making bottles that I kept going on. I stopped at 2 1/2 because I got pregnant. Do it as long as you and your baby want 😊

The longer you breastfeed Ayer a uggest, the more stable their immune system is, and the lower your chances of breast cancer and women's genital cancers. Keep going, mama! My family is the same way. You just have to tell them that they can keep their ignorant comments to themselves or not see the baby until they're fully weaned.
