QUESTION with pcos

So my doctor told me I have anovulatory cycles.. but researching everything online it says if the egg drops and isn’t fertilized it sheds and you begin your menstrual cycle... I’ve been getting periods but not every month.. so I’m confused... does this mean I am ovulating just not as I should be?
