Flu vaccine.

Jam

Im seeing a lot of posts about the flu shot and I would just like to put out there that it is most recommended for pregnant women, children, and elderly. The strain of flu that hit the US last flu season was a strain that when creating the vaccine they didn’t see coming. Over 80,000 people died and among those 80,000 were many pregnant women and many children. I live in South Carolina and 3 people have already died this past month from the flu in North Carolina. It is just the beginning of the flu season and people are already dying from it. It is your choice as to weather or not you get the vaccine, but do not make the decision not to get it because you are mis-informed or because you think that the vaccine itself causes the flu. Talk to your health care provider, do your research and then make your decision. Although flu vaccines aren’t 100% effective, and you could still get the flu. You can also know that you had done everything in your power in order to prevent it and the symptoms may be lesser because of the vaccine. I’d also like to put out there that pregnant women can get a preservative-free flu vaccine if that’s what you’d prefer to do. You would have to find out if your provider has them or find a place that does.
