pcos + birth control
I was diagnosed with pcos in march of this year and was put on the nuvaring immediately following my diagnosis as I had not had a period in 5 months and was at risk for developing cervical cancer.
the last couple months I started getting ocular migraines that made me lose my vision and all the energy I had. some random girl in one of the pcos support groups urged me to stop taking it as she recently was in the ER for hundreds of blood clots on her brain caused by the nuvaring. I messaged my doctor and she told me to stop using it immediately due to the visual disturbances I was experiencing.
I have an appointment to figure out what my next step is, but i’d like to have some personal experiences if possible. clearly that mix of hormones isn’t an option any longer, but i’m 17304% AGAINST any type of IUD. is there anything else? the only reason i’m really on BC is because I need to shed my uterine lining and I can’t do it on my own. my husband and I aren’t really trying to get pregnant but it wouldn’t be the worst thing.
anyways- all that to say, if anyone has PCOS or even just experiences on various birth control options, I would love and appreciate ANY advice/stories you have to share.
TIA❤️
