Why does everyone feel the need to ask me if I'm pregnant?

I've been married for a little over a year now and we are TTC. It feels like EVERYONE around me is asking "are you pregnant?" Or saying "no babies yet?" Family....friends....coworkers.  First I'm like hold on do I look pregnant? And then I'm like what the hell because if I'm trying and it's not happening what am I supposed to say? So annoying

We were trying for 7 years and nothing (I'm pregnant with our miracle now) and I hated people asking me this. It honestly made me cry as soon as I was home so many times. It hurts so bad. I just ignored it and usually lied and said "no plans yet" or "It'll happen when it's meant to" I never once told them we were trying and it wasn't happening. I hope you don't take it in too much. People just don't realise how damaging it can be to someone.

I knew it would happen after we were married. Little did people know that I have PCOS and we weren't using protection for 3 years before we got married and I hadn't gotten pregnant. First time it happened was at a family wedding a couple months after we married and thankfully my husband was with me and I gave a gentle squeeze to his hand and he answered it a polite way. I was on the verge of tears because I had just gotten my period so I was emotional. People feel they can comment on that type of stuff for some reason. After my own struggles, I have done my best to avoid asking questions of women like that.

It does kind of hurt when I’m asked bc it brings up within me my disappointment of not being pregnant yet and all the struggles that’s come with trying to conceive. I don’t get defensive about it anymore though. My friends and family who ask mean well, and I know they’re just excited and anticipating with us. It makes me feel supported that I have a group of people who love me and are rooting for us to conceive. Strangers on the other hand are a different story, but I think people ask bc it’s basically the next traditional step once you’ve been married. They probably don’t have anything else to talk to me about. Kind of like when people ask couples in long term relationships when they’ll get engaged and married. True, it’s no one’s business, but I know it’s not personal.

It’s really rude of people to ask if none of their business and really insensitive as we don’t know what people want out of life or if they are struggling
