I voted depends. Dia De Los Muertos is a major event where I live. Sometimes non Mexican white people (like me) go to events with Mexican friends or family. I’ve never seen anyone upset about participation in face painting or anything else as long as it’s done with respect. I’ve not personally painted my face, but I would if specifically asked to join in. That’s cultural exchange.
Doing it for Halloween seems closer to the disrespectful side of things. 
Also, this tradition stems from Pre Colonization belief. Just Spanish ancestry isn’t particularly relevant.

idk. when i talked to my in-laws from mexico their thoughts on all the sugar skulls on decor/halloween costumes, they really like it. MIL always buys me sugar skull stuff. it makes her happy that other cultures love something from hers. i’d love to hear other people’s thoughts, tho.

día de los muertos was never meant for white people but every Halloween there they are taking a peice of my culture and looking like absolute wads doing it. 
every year non latinx love to paint themselves like la catrina and drink themselves stupid for cinco de mayo but still manage to hate latinx culture and people and send our children to tiny prisons to be separated from their families, or destroy our merchandise we try to sell on the streets or straight up deport us for trying to find a better life
I'm so sick of non latinx fetishizing and appropriating our culture for aesthetic and I am tired af of latinx who co sign their appropriation 🙄

I'm Mexican and my husband is afro Latino and we don't find it offensive I mean the dollar store sells these mask and I mean as long as you know what they are for it doesn't matter I like to see ppl embracing and celebrating  Mexican culture

My husband is half mexican and I’m white. That’s usually what we end up doing at Halloween and wearing normal clothes because we’re not huge into costumes. His family has never been bothered by it either. 
I’m sure some people are bothered, but I’ve never heard of that or had anyone tell me so to me it’s okay to do.
