Can I ask for an ultrasound?

I'm worried because I felt my movement in my tummy a few weeks ago and now nothing. Also, at my last check up, my doctor only heard one heartbeat but said it's normal because they could either be extremely close together or one could be hiding in the back. I've been so worried ever since though. Can I ask for a sonogram and they have to/should give it to me?

Most people don't feel until 18 weeks. I would not be worried about the lack of movement at 17 weeks.

How far along are you? If you just recently started feeling them kick it is possible to feel it and then not feel them again for a few weeks. It happened to me with all of my pregnancies!

If you tell them that you've felt a reduction in movement they will usually want to do an ultrasound. Just stress how concerned you are.

If you get nervous about it often I would buy an at-home Doppler. Mine was the best purchase ever - especially before I could consistently feel them moving. I still use it some days when I feel like they haven't moved as much as other days. They are relatively inexpensive and are so reassuring.

I would also just try giving your doctor a call and express your concerns to see if they can fit you in for a quick ultrasound just to make sure everything's fine.

I would absolutely NOT make up stomach pains just go get a free ultrasound at the ER... It's there for emergencies.

You can go to the emergency room and complain about belly pains and they'll give you an ultrasound.

If dr won't or ins doesn't cover it you can try an ultrasound place like Miracle in Progress. I used them cause my dr in the beginning wouldn't do an ultrasound. Was only $25!!!

Some times insurance only pays for so many ultrasounds... Doesn't hurt to ask and see how your policy is set up
