Drug testing?

I had an appointment today at 10 weeks. The took tons of blood, did a pelvic exam and ultrasound and as usual took a urine sample. My dr is affiliated with Centura health and they have a patient portal so it alerts me and I can look at all my test results. They drug tested me, I don’t care cause I don’t do drugs, and obviously everything was negative. I’m just wondering, is this standard practice/normal?

Yep and not only do they not mention it to you buuut... if anything does happen to come up they also alert social services without telling you...

Everyone I know including myself have been drug tested for all pregnancies. I think it is a very common practice. Yes if you test positive social serves is notified.

Only certain hospitals do it not all. So saying it is standard practice is not true. Where I live only 2 delivery systems (hospital networks ) do it . However all hospitals test you when you go in for delivery and they don’t tell you. And they don’t alert social services, what they do is test you again later and then if it is positive they may alert them IF you test positive at delivery .

Yep pretty standard! I got my labs back and looked at my drug test and was like “oh good I don’t do drugs!” Lol. It also caught me a little off guard because I didn’t really think of it.

Yep, very normal. Office I used for my first did it, the hospital I work for their OB offices do it, and I’d expect my new office to do it.

Did you note on any of your forms that you have previously used drugs? Sometime that will trigger them to do it. Otherwise, some places have it as standard practice to rule it out in general.
