baby shower worries

Hannah

so I am going to have a baby shower the Sunday after Thanksgiving and I just want to keep myself accountable and in check because I really dont want to be rude or selfish.

but is it rude to return or exchange a gift that you got for something that you wanted off your registry?

let's be honest here. I completely understand I will get some gifts that were not asked for, i will get some that i may not need. I understand I may get double or triple of the same type of items. I understand that some will shop off my registry and others will not and some may find the items from my registry elsewhere but not mark it as purchased.

so for example: my dad has already found a bike stroller attachment for a pull behind that can also be pushed for a jogging stroller. my sister also has a jogging stroller she wishes to give me, just needs some TLC. I am not an active jogger and never will be. my father in law wants to buy us a stroller and I kindly said that we have two to choose from that we need off our registry but he kept talking about a specific one he would see people use all the time with 3 wheels and really cool tires. personally, I just want a regular four wheeled travel system. that is what I need. and it's on my registry. but I feel like I'm going to have 3 or 4 strollers that are impractical for our lifestyle. is it rude to return it later on to purchase the one I'll need? is that selfish? I've had friends that have went through so many before finding the right one but I dont want to keep something and struggle with it every time just because it was a gift. what should I do? what is the proper etiquette/rule for your shower gifts you have too many of or not the right fit? this is not just a "it's not my taste or I hate the print" issue. help!
