Will you be opening gifts at your shower?

We are having about the same amount of people at my baby shower as I did at my bridal shower. It took over 2 hours to open gifts at my bridal shower, and I'm afraid I won't be able to last 2 hours opening gifts at 7 months pregnant lol

I was recently invited to one where the mom to be was pregnant with twins (it ended up being cancelled because twins can wreak havoc but anyways), and they asked on the invite to not wrap presents as she’d prefer to spend more time with everyone.  Definitely might be stealing this one for mine!!

I am doing an “open house” theme as well. People will come and go as they please. We will still provide food and drinks but then people don’t have to sit and watch me open up gifts. I hate being the center of attention and would rather just visit!

Were doing a display shower where we asked people to leave their gifts unwrapped. I did that for my bridal shower too. I hate being the center of attention so it was nice.

I never open gifts at birthdays or parties!! I just feel like it put pressure on people to bring shit or be embarrassed. Sometimes you just don’t have it and I don’t want a friend to not come because she will be embarrassed.

Ugh I had such an argument with my parents about this for my bridal shower.  The only other group of people I know who do this are children. Women are not children.l. I think is tacky weird and boring but my mom and her friends get so pissy if it doesn’t happen. I eventually did it since my mom threw me the shower, but honestly if she truly wanted to do somthing for me, she would’ve let me not. She put her ideas of what should happen above what I wanted. Totally do what you want! As long as you thank people for their gift, you’re not doing anything wrong.

I did an open house. asked people to leave the gift unwrapped for all to see to spend more time with the momma to be. 
it was awesome.... everyone loved being able to visit and chat vs oohing and ahhing over another onesie. 
people legit could pop in for 30 mins or stay the full 3. no pressure on people to stay. 
if we are all honest with ourselves we dont always enjoy the opening of the gifts part. 
I highly recommend this!
