WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY!! (Perhaps a trigger warning)

Hi everyone today is world mental health day and I want to make a post that is both encouraging and to fit into this group also controversial (hopefully).

So it’s been a really hard year for me and I know some people here have been having a hard time too. I want everyone to know that you’re not alone and any of the current struggles you’re facing is only temporary in your life.

Remember it’s ok to ask for help, it’s ok to talk, it’s ok to want to be alone too! It’s ok to have bad days and bad weeks and bad months and it’s ok to say no to anyone if you’re not in the right frame of mind for something. I know it’s not possible for everyone all the time but where possible it’s ok to take time off work for your mental health and it’s ok to NOT BE OK all the time. Remember that if feelings are getting overwhelming there are resources out there and talking to close people you trust can also do a lot of good.

For discussion I would like to ask people:

What are some of the things in our society that is improving for people with mental health issues?

What are some things that could be improved?

Do you feel advances in society (such as social media) are harmful or beneficial for our mental health?

...I would also ask people if they can to maybe share any good coping mechanisms they have and maybe that can help someone else reading through....

or if anyone has any resources from where they are from to help others..I’m in Ireland and anyone in Ireland in need of help here are some resources.
