How much tv do to allow your kids?

I let my 3yr old twins watch 1 episode of Daniel tiger per day (~20 mins) And lately I’ve been letting them watch 2 episodes since they’re sick and I think I’m pregnant (I’m exhausted and so blah). I feel guilty that 40 mins+ is too much! I don’t let them use phones or tablets, though. How much screen time are your kiddos allowed?

TV is on for an hour maximum, that’s if kids are sick and absolutely nothing else will get them to rest properly. No tablets. 
TV in the background has been studied and it is conclusive that children with background television most of the day don’t read as much or as quickly as those without, as well as having much shorter attention spans when it comes to playtime or time alone, and communicate less efficiently with their parents.

I have the tv on all day. My son will only watch certain shows and movies he’ll stop an watch something different for a second but keep playing with his toys and I find other activities to do with him at home or usually take him out to do something. Or I’ll keep whatever he likes on so I can get things done around the house. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with letting them watch tv for a while it’s just when they won’t do anything and only want the tv most of the time is the problem. I also only try to do educational shows which is what he’s really only into anyways.

My son watches quite a bit of tv. I always have it on in the background, but he’s not always watching. He’s very smart and we play and read and color and lots of other activities. I think it’s a problem if they’re constantly sitting in front of it and not doing anything else. To each their own though!

Our tv is usually always on in the background, or me and my SO are actually watching it. Our daughter doesn’t really watch it though, she plays with her toys and stuff 90% of the day. We also let her have tablet time (mostly playing educational games. sometimes watching shows on Kids YouTube).

So I think because every kid requires something different it’s hard to judge on what’s “too much” my son is NOT a morning person. So he will watch a couple episodes of curious George or something then he will get up and play and hang out. Then at night we usually watch a kids movie to wind down for the night Bc he is usually in wide ass open mode. But then he goes to bed with his tablet. It has a limit on it for how long he can watch it. And it automatically goes off at 930, bedtime is at 8. Just Bc we don’t think having a tv in his room is good at this age especially since we can’t sensor content or the time he watches it. He is 3 🤷🏻‍♀️ we only let him watch educational shows however which I will say has worked amazingly. He learned how to count and his colors by watching certain shows with us. So I mean like I said I don’t think you can really judge and don’t feel like a bad mom some people just put their kids in front of a screen to leave them so they can go do them. So don’t be bothered by a couple extra shows.
