🍷 My first time using a menstrual cup (in-depth) *UPDATED

💀

Hi ladies! 😊 This is my dirty details post about my first time using a menstrual cup for anyone curious. I hope it helps someone considering taking the plunge! (No pun intended.)

So I'm a woman who has always had a heavy flow, and I got tired of wearing the jumbo diaper pads for the better half of my 8 day period. Tampons could never handle me either, so I recently got into the whole menstrual cup fad. 🤔

I purchased the Diva Cup (model 1,) since according to my research it is an ideal choice for a lady with a high cervix like myself. By the time I received my cup my period was almost over, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyways!

My first insertion, I cleaned it and did a C fold as instructed. I wasn't worried about getting it in, and didn't find it painful or uncomfortable at all. I just wiggled it on up there and felt it pop open with the stem just inside my vagina enough to not poke me/out at all, but still in easy reach. I was shocked that I can't even feel it in there! I stuck some fingers in to check and see that it had fully opened, and it was still kinda scrunched. I did as the instructions said and twisted it around in a circle, feeling the base to make sure it opened completely. Now that it had opened, I wiggled it up a bit to make sure it stayed in place with no stem poking. (I haven't altered the stem at all yet.)

Still can't feel a thing! Though I don't know if it's just my brain messing with me, but my stomach feels more "full" since insertion if that makes sense? It's not annoying, just a slight slight feeling like my abdominal muscles are stretching. I tried to pee with the cup in, and I was able to go fine. No popping out or anything. I was worried about reviews saying cups made it hard to pee since I have a problematic bladder. If anything my stream is ever so slightly lighter/thinner, but I'm not struggling to pee by any means. 🚩

My first test will be the overnight test for the last remaining bits of my period! I'm wearing white panties with no pad to screen for any possible leaks. I will update this post when I remove it, and again for my first full period using the cup! ♀

So far so good!!!

***UPDATE 1: Removal

So I got up this morning to remove my cup. There were no leaks!!! I noticed the cup had moved up a bit and the stem had tilted slightly to the side when I went to remove it. Removal was a little bit uncomfortable but not painful. I had to dig in there to grab it and it didn't want to let go at first. The resistance when it pulled down told me that it had suctioned successfully. When I emptied the cup it had collected the little bit of fluid that was left of my period. 10/10 I will be using the cup on my next period! I want to try using it in the shower and see if that makes any difference ⚘
