Flu jab?

Has anyone had, or having the flu jab? 
I’m in the uk and it’s free for mums to be but I don’t have my first midwife appointment till 10 weeks (November 13th) so quite a way off. 
Am I leaving myself at risk?

Why are pregnant women advised to have the flu vaccine?
The flu jab will help protect both you and your baby. 
There is good evidence that pregnant women have a higher chance of developing complications if they get flu, particularly in the later stages of pregnancy.
One of the most common complications of flu is bronchitis, a chest infection that can become serious and develop into pneumonia.
If you have flu while you're pregnant, it could mean your baby is born prematurely or has a low birthweight, and may even lead to stillbirth or death.

If you’re really worried, you can pay for it at Boots and some other pharmacies, think it’s around £12.99. Or just give your surgery a call and try to arrange it a little earlier. Good luck!

Yes, I got mine yesterday. It’s highly recommended for pregnant women. The flu is much more dangerous for pregnant women and their babies. There is a preservative-free one they give preggos that is mercury free.

I had mine at 4 weeks at first GP appointment. No side affects aside from a bit of a sore arm that day!

I’m also from the UK and asked my doctor about it last week when I was 4+6 and she said that either my midwife will sort it out (my first appointment is 1st Nov at 7+6), or the surgery will contact me directly🤔🤷🏼‍♀️ she also said that I’ve got a while to get it so didn’t seem urgent about it..

Yep, you should always get one during flu season! My daughter’s doctor recommended getting it before the end of October, I guess that’s when infection rate really starts to ramp up. If I were you, I’d probably try to get it before your appointment in November. I had mine five weeks ago when I wasn’t even four weeks pregnant.

I’ve had 3 prior children and I’ve gotten it for only one of my pregnancies. Of course that was the pregnancy that I got the flu, I was out of commission for two weeks. So I generally don’t get the flu shot if I’m not pregnant so I won’t get it while I am now.

I’m in Ireland and got it last time I was expecting, I plan to get it again this year
