Stressing out! Help!

Evelyn
Hi Ladies! I didn't know where to post my questions but I figured December moms could help me figure this out. So, four months ago I applied for a job at a hospital. I didn't know I was pregnant back then. On Monday, I received a called (from the hospital that I had applied) to confirmed an interview for Tuesday, which I attended. On Friday, I received a called saying I got the job and if I accept it. I was so happy that I said "yes," because I been looking forward to work in a hospital to keep working on my future RN career. I start working in a week. My future employer doesn't know that I'm pregnant and that I'm halfway through my pregnancy. I have to get a physical exam done in a week. Would it show in the physical exam results that I'm pregnant? Should I tell them before I sign any paperwork? Would they be upset? Will I lose the job offer? What should I do? I'm stressing out. I really want that job.

Tell them when you get to the physical exam that you are expecting and give your due date. They can't deny you the job bc you're pregnant. It'll all be okay, don't stress it. If it's meant to be it'll work out :)

If they rescind the job offer because you are pregnant they are discriminating. Yes, during your physical exam it probably will be noticeable to the person doing the exam that you are pregnant unless they do nothing more than listening to your heart and lungs. It's your call to make about when to tell them, but they shouldn't legally take the offer away because you are pregnant.

I would be completely honest with ur employer.  They cannot discriminate because u are pregnant. Do u have health insurance and benefits? The only thing is depending on where ur job is sometimes those benefit don't start Til after 90 days.  There was recently a nurse on my floor who was just hired. She was pregnant and didn't tell them until after she was hired. My boss wasn't upset at all. Good luck 😊😊🍼🍼

Even if you knew you were pregnant when you applied, so what?! Pregnant women need to work too (maybe even harder)! Any employer who discriminates against you for being pregnant is violating the law, not to mention being a total asshole considering pregnant women are what makes the world go round... Just tell your employer you're pregnant, request any reasonable accomodations, and don't make any apologies for it! I started a new job while pregnant and my boss has been super accommodating and great about it.

Don't let being pregnant stop you from pursuing this job! If they don't hire you because you are pregnant, then it is a place you don't want to work anyway. You don't have to call them to tell them. It should have nothing to do with your getting hired. You can mention it during your interview, but it is not necessary to mention until you are hired on officially.

That's true. I just hope I get the opportunity to work there. 😊

I'm in the exact same boat. Found out I was pregnant a week after I accepted the job the job. I'm a teacher and am waiting. For the craziness of going back to school before I tell my district. Extremely nervous, but we are both hired and they can't let us go for having a family.

I hope they don't discriminate. Good luck. Let me know how that goes. 😊

Does the offer state that it is conditional to the outcome of referencing or medical? If it's a firm offer despite any findings in these areas they cannot discriminate against you, however if you aren't yet employed and they're waiting to see if you pass the criteria they may be able to turn you away.

Sorry but the above comment is wrong. They can't not hire you due to pregnancy.

I hope they don't.
