Ivf? I need your good bad and ugly

Question

So according to my doctors, IVF is the ONLY option for my husband and I to have biological children. My little phalanges ( I know that’s not the right term) that bring my egg in to get fertilized do not work. They just sit there, so my egg gets absorbed into my body. ( according to my doctor) I feel like I’ve gone through my grieving stages of not being able to conceive naturally. I have recently been having a hard time and now I have some concerns & questions about IVF that hopefully some of you can help me. Btw, IVF scares the crap out of me!! I’m scared because I don’t know how I feel about I injecting hormones inside myself. I only took birth control for 1 week when I first got married because I couldn’t handle the how that made me feel. I am scared because I don’t think I am emotionally or mentally ready if it fails. I think that may catapult me into a depression and I’m am scared of that ....Or if it is successful and I get multiples... and what if those split?! I can never choose to elect to reduce them ( nicer way of saying aborting a few of the multiples.) IVF scares me a lot so here are my questions. 1) how many injections did you take and what were your side effects or reactions. ( granted I know everyone is different) 2) how did you prepare mentally and emotionally? 3) was it successful on the first try? If not, how many times before it was? 4) how many eggs did your doctor take out and how many fertilized did they insert? 5) something you wish someone told you about before you did IVF ? Thanks!!!!!

I can’t answer many of your questions, but my bff is going through IVF right now and I do know that they only put one embryo in nowadays, especially if you’re on the younger side. So there’s no reason to worry on that front! I would recommend doing some reading and finding a Ivf-specific forum. Good luck to you!!!

I had been diagnosed with unexplained fertility issues, 
Had a failed ivf attempt in July.
Went through lupride injections before egg retrieval and gestone( progesterone) injections after embryo transfer in that 2 week wait.
For more follicles to mature i was given another injection for 10 days before egg retrieval.
Had 16 follicles , which had 10 eggs .
Of which doctor said 2 were good quality eggs, which made it to blastocyst ( 5 day embryo) . Transferred both . But cycle was failure.

My husband and I just started to see a infertility dr so we haven't gotten to the bottom of our issue and if even IVF will be for us. 
My older sister had IVF and she went through 3 rounds and finally got pregnant with their only child. I think they took out 9/10 eggs and only inputted 2 embryos in her 1st cycle (they froze the other embryos) then they again only used 2 for IVF round 2. 
For her 3rd IVF they again went and got more eggs from her and implanted 3 embryos and she got pregnant with one. 
Your Dr will listen to you if you express your wishes about wanting to limit the number of embryos so you dont have a lot of multiples.
