Am I a snake?

I met this guy one night at a party and he was really cool. Turns out my friend has been talking to him for a while now and I think she likes him. But I like him too. And he came to her party and she didn’t even talk to him and he’s like the only guy that I can really get along with since I’m really shy. I want to talk to my friend but I don’t want her to get upset and I really care about how she feels since we have been friends for so long. Please help!
