Ovulation test kits

My periods are irregular and according to apps I'm not suppose to be ovulating until this weekend, but I decided to go ahead and start testing early. Just started yesterday. Am I already at my peak? Also, the one I took this morning, the reference line is lighter than the test??? I'm new to this!
