Crib bumper?

So I read that crib bumpers that go with the baby bedding set most of the time aren't recommend, that they could cause SIDS, but I always thought they prevented the baby from hitting themselves on the actual crib? Any advice?

Some states don't even allow the to be sold anymore. They are okay until the baby starts moving around the crib then I was told to switch to the mesh ones that are breathable.

You can use them when they can turn over on their own. Just hold on to it. Before they can turn over they won't be able to move enough to bump themselves into anything anyway so don't worry about that. The bumper we bought this time around is just a rail cover.

I bought one because it came with the bedding set and I hadn't heard that they could pose a risk. I am going to take it out until about 6 months and put it back in when the baby is strong enough to move.

I use the breathable mesh ones..target has cute ones!

I used the mesh ones with my oldest for a little while. He kelt waking up screaming in pain with limbs stuck and twisted in the crib rails or with a bruised head. I haven't had to use them with my youngest and won't use them with this next baby unless they have issues like my oldest did.

My lil one will be in a bassinet at first then I will transition her to the crib. I will not be using a bumper, not even a breathable one. The AAP, American Academy of Pediatrics, has come out and said not to use them.

They are fine until baby is able to roll over and mo e around a bit...then I would recommend taking them out. My son always got his legs caught between the crib slats so I did end up buying a mesh one.

I have to use the puffy ones for my son, he moves everywhere and would hit his head on the crib if I didn't have them he is 16 months and fine with them in
