Kitten Chow

So I have a kitten named Malone, and I've been feeding him Purina Kitten Chow since he stopped drinking Mama cat's milk. He hasn't shown any bad symptoms or anything, but people have been telling me that a long time ago Purina gave animals cancer (idk if it's true or not), but I've decided that until he shows me that the food is no good (puking being probably the first sign) I'm going to keep feeding him Purina. Any animal lovers feed their animals Purina, or have and had bad side effects?
