UTI from alcohol?!

I’m prone to UTIs, and get them a few times a year.
Lately I’ve noticed, when I drink alcohol, it feels like I have a UTI. (Mild cramping and painful urination less than an hour after my first drink)
But then as soon as I have a few glasses of water, it goes away!
Could drinking alcohol cause a UTI? Or are my symptoms something else?

I don't know about alcohol since I don't drink often but I can't drink a mountain dew for a few days in a row without getting a uti so I have stopped drinking them all together!

The "i" in UTI stands for infection and infection means medication. So its no UTI. 
What type of alcohol are you drinking? Beer, wine, liqueur? What about mixers?

Alcohol can cause a uti but it wouldn’t go away so quickly if you really had a uti
