27 weeks our son has holoprosencephaly

I’m posting this pretty late but figured I’d update on Mason. We saw the specialist today at Maternal fetal medicine and finally have some answers. Mason has Holoprosencephaly. This is a rare brain defect that has a broad range of outcomes. This happens when part of the brain fails to form into right and left hemispheres. Usually with very severe cases it also causes major facial deformities, luckily he doesn’t have any so we are hoping this is mild. We did the Amniocentesis today and will know more when we get our test results back. In mild and less severe cases he can be born with a bear normal brain aside from seizures and learning delays. In severe cases it is not compatible with life, but I have ALOT of hope that this is not severe. We see the specialist again in one week and will make a treatment plan with her as well as a plan for when I go into labor.
