Do you think more young adults are just getting married because it's trendy? or that they're in love?

There's a lot of women on here talking about getting divorced really early in their marriage

Are younger people actually getting married more now than before? As far as I know the average age of people getting married has been getting pushed back - so older rather than younger..unless that’s changed in the recent years?

Because people think marriage is easy and are not willing to work on it. They amount of comments saying "leave him" on here is astonishing! Sometimes a divorce is necessary yes but come on start by accepting your spouse the way he/she is and stop wanting someone to be perfect. That doesn't exist !

I think it just appears that way because there’s more ways to see people getting engaged/married. I don’t think theres actually been an increase in young people marrying. 
Before social media you heard about it whenever you saw someone.. now it’s in your face constantly everyday you can log onto Facebook and see 2-3 people getting engaged and barely out of high school. 
My husband and I got married young because we were ready to move forward into a new place in our relationship and very much in love. We had been together 5 years and married at 21 & 23

personally we’re getting married for insurance purposes etc we’ve been together 6 years and we’re in love, if we could bypass the legal aspect of it we probably wouldn’t get married

I don’t think it’s more trendy.
I am 22 and want to get married for love and have thought a lot about it. If I get married now it’s not because I want to “be hip” it’s because I love someone, want to share my love forever with the man I love.

As far as I’m aware fewer young people are getting married. I only got married for insurance. We were living together 8 years and had a 2 year old kid when we got married. We never planned on getting married and we still often forget we are.

In love with the idea of being married. Social media makes it look like a fun and easy thing because they tell you you get to adopt a thousand dogs, get wine drunk, shop for hours at target and have cute little babies but its all a fantasy. They get carried away with it but don’t realize how tough it will be.

The younger you get married the higher chance of divorce. That’s how it’s been for quite a long time. A lot of younger people just want a wedding and don’t realize marriage is a lot of work. Plus people change a lot in their 20s. Doesn’t mean those marriages can’t last because some do. It’s just more unlikely.

Marriage is actually happening later in most cases, but it’s interesting to hear Esther Perel talk about the evolution of marriage going from an economic enterprise to a romantic adventure. We are now seeking love for the feelings it gives us instead of the security it provides. Since feelings are fleeting and people are ill-equipped to handle discomfort for any period of time, they want immediate relief and therefore they leave. With women working more commonly nowadays, it’s not the same financial devastation or social suicide it would’ve been back in the 40s and 50s.

I don’t actually think more people are getting married young. Statistics are trending up, not only for marriage, but for having their first child. This app makes it seems that way because younger people are more likely to be active on social media. It’s also none of my business why people get married.
